Avalanche Oscillator Build Guide
Components
2 x Resistors
1 x Transistor
1 x Mini Mono Jack (Thonkiconn)
1 x button
1 x Potentiometer
1 x OP Amp IC LM386N
1 x OP Amp IC Socket
1 x Battery Clip
1 x Speaker
1 x Circuit Board
Step 1. Locate resistors and find R1 and R2 on the circuit board. Bend resistor legs through the holes following the silkscreen print. When happy with positioning, solder in place.
Step 2. Locate the OP Amp IC socket. Follow the print on the board to locate its position marked U1. Take care that the notch in the socket lines up with the notch on the print. Solder 1 pin and check the socket is flush to the board before soldering the other 7 pins.
Step 3. Locate the button, push into SW1 on the board and solder in place.
Step 4. Continue with the Transistor in Q1 taking note that its orientation follows the print with the flat side lining up. Don’t push all the way down. When happy with positioning solder in place.
Step 4. Locate the 3 capacitors. Insert the smaller 10u capacitors in C1 and C2 and the larger one into C3. Make sure the stripes on the capacitors face out towards the white print on the board.
Step 5. Locate your mini jack and solder in position J2.
Step 6. Solder your potentiometer in position RV1
Step 7. The battery clip goes up through the wide hole market “Bat”. Each leg comes back down through the board as seen in the diagram. Red is positive and should be soldered to the plus while black is negative.
Step 8. Choose your speaker wire, strip the ends and solder to the board in the same way as the battery clip. Next solder the wires to the speaker choosing which colour to make positive.
Step 9. Insert the OP Amp into the socket. Again follow the notch to make sure it is round the correct way.
Step 10. Insert 9v Battery and have fun!
